The small canine was found all alone atop a hill, weeping uncontrollably and lacking any energy. It was evident that the poor creature had been deserted in the middle of the night.
A cute little pup of just 20 days was discovered abandoned on a mountainside near Chanis, Panama. Unfortunately, the little one was in a terrible state, infested with flies, lice, and fleas and had many sores on her body. The poor thing was seriously ill, barely able to move, struggled to breathe, and always kept her eyes closed. Fortunately, she was found in time and was taken to the Veterinary Paws & Footprints of Chanis for immediate medical attention. The vets monitored her closely every two hours, and she was given various injectable drugs to help her recover. Weighing only 0.66 kg (1.45 lbs), this little pup has a long road to recovery, but we’re confident that she will make a full and speedy recovery.
As a result of her inability to consume food, her blood sugar levels decreased once more, necessitating yet another blood transfusion. This process is particularly distressing for a small child, causing a great deal of pain. Hearing her weeping voice during the wee hours of the night is truly heartbreaking.
The veterinarian suggested that she should undergo the procedure again several times because her anemia did not show any improvement despite taking a good diet. Although she received blood transfusions, it did not help in increasing her hematocrit number, which implies that her body is not generating new blood cells on its own.
The next day, the transfusion had a positive effect on baby Amor’s health. Her hemoglobin level rose from 3.0 to 4.5, and her platelet count increased from 28 to 84. Additionally, her hematocrit went up from 12 to 16, which allowed her to be discharged from the hospital.
After a couple of days under their care, Baby Amor has become more peaceful and stopped crying at night. However, she continues to stay in the hospital for observation and monitoring every morning.
In the latter part of the day, the volunteers entertain and interact with Amor. This activity gives her a sense of affection and contributes positively to her mental well-being. Following a week, Amor started consuming Proplan puppy food in small amounts, and it helped boost her appetite. Furthermore, she receives water and malt extract, which is a supplement rich in iron, every two hours.
Despite her physical limitations, the power of her heart surpasses that of her body. As she endures the healing process, she experiences the irritating sensation of a recovering wound under her bandage. But this doesn’t discourage the petite girl. She has fought against every obstacle in her path and persists in standing, imploring life for another chance.
