A mother dog named Poor Dog and her nine puppies, who were only two weeks old, were found left behind in a parking lot. It’s disheartening to know that cruelty towards animals is still happening on a daily basis. Hearing stories like this one is always heartbreaking and it’s hard to imagine how someone could be so unfeeling towards innocent creatures.
A local animal sanctuary extended their help when a picture of a deserted adult dog and her puppies went viral on the internet. The incident took place on April 26, when a 5-year-old boxer mix named Dory and her nine 2-week-old puppies were abandoned in a church parking lot in Abilene, Texas. Fortunately, Paw Angel Animal Rescue, based in Abilene, came to their rescue.
The abandoned puppies were left in the parking lot of a church in Abilene, and unfortunately, all the animal shelters in the vicinity were already at full capacity. Upon seeing a photo of the helpless pups on Facebook, the shelter put out an urgent plea for a foster home. Fortunately, two volunteers from Paw Angel were already en route to assist. Misty Boerger, one of the volunteers, shared with KTXS12 news, “As soon as I saw the picture, my heart just sank. I immediately contacted Angel and together we were able to rescue these dogs.”
“I can’t wrap my head around why someone would abandon a mother dog and her two-week-old puppies,” the statement read. Angel Urban, who saved the dogs with Boerger, shared that they found Dory injured. “We saw several wounds on her body that were open and draining,” Urban noted.
Dory had a tough time dealing with her injuries, especially after losing one of her puppies named Peach due to a throat tumor that led to her untimely demise. However, the good news is that Dory and her eight remaining pups are now healthy and fit for adoption into loving homes, as shared by the Paw Angel Animal Rescue organization.
The organization shared a heartwarming photo of three adorable puppies cuddling together. Along with the picture, they also announced that the furry friends will have a new kennel to call their own.
