Fans of Scarlett Johansson know how much she has contributed to the role of Avenger superspy Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow, over the last decade. Her admiration for the character was evident on Tuesday night when she received the People’s Choice Award for Female Movie Star of 2021 for her long-awaited solo film.
“I didn’t know whether or not audiences would like my portrayal of this beloved character,” Johansson admitted in her acceptance speech. “And so I really owe this all to you guys.” Ten-plus years ago, when she first started her journey with Marvel, she had no idea whether or not fans would appreciate her take on Black Widow, but thanks to their unwavering support, her portrayal has become a beloved part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
