Teddy is a special 5-month-old kitty with a one-of-a-kind appearance due to his rare condition. Despite his unusual look, he’s a happy little guy who’s delighted to receive love and care. Teddy was fortunate to find his way to the Odd Cat Sanctuary in Salem, Massachusetts where he can now live the life he deserves. With his wise expression, it’s hard to believe he’s still just a kitten!
One animal rescuer reached out to Tara Kay, founder of the Odd Cat Sanctuary, about a unique kitten in her litter. The little grey kitten had highly stretchy and droopy skin, even though he was just a few weeks old. Tara immediately realized the kitten’s special needs and accepted the rescuer’s request to take him under their care. The Odd Cat Sanctuary specializes in rescuing cats and kittens with special needs.
Upon the arrival of the cute little kitten, he greeted one of the sanctuary’s volunteers with a loud purr, giving them hugs and rolling over for belly rubs. It was evident that the kitten loved people very much. However, it was later discovered that the kitten suffered from a rare medical condition called Feline cutaneous asthenia, also known as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS).
This condition of genetic origin leads to a scarcity in collagen within the body, ultimately impacting the durability and suppleness of skin and ligaments. Tara disclosed to Love Meow that due to this, her special care is required to keep his fragile skin from tearing unexpectedly, and they are prepared to take all measures necessary to restore his health.
At the rescue, there is a five-month-old cat named Teddy who is the youngest feline with EDS. Fortunately, he has begun receiving treatment to enhance his skin’s quality and durability. His injuries are recovering nicely, and he transforms into a sweet and affectionate kitty every time he receives attention.
According to Tara from Love Meow, Teddy is on his way to recovery and they intend to apply nail caps and keep him warm with a sweater to avoid further tears. Despite his condition, Teddy has been affectionate and loves snuggles and playtime with his caregivers. Being pampered and taken care of brings him immense joy, making him the happiest cat around.
With his adorable droopy, sad-looking eyes, the cute kitten named Teddy may seem a bit down, but don’t be fooled. This little feline is actually as happy as can be! Watching him run around the room with boundless energy and excitement is a sight to behold – he’s just like any other playful kitten who loves to have fun. Plus, whenever Teddy is around a human friend, he simply can’t contain his joy and will purr up a storm.
Teddy is an adventurous feline who is determined to enjoy every moment of his life. According to Tara, Teddy loves to indulge in playtime, cuddles and relish his food. His happy-go-lucky attitude is admirable, and he never misses a chance to show his gratitude through non-stop purring.
